This guide is intended to help Harvard students and researchers better understand how Google works, how to use a variety of search operators, and how to navigate Google Scholar, a special flavor of Google specifically designed for searching scholarly literature.

African American Newspapers: Guide to Databases at Harvard

This research guide identifies and links directly to Harvard's major collections of African American news sources in databases. It also points to African American news sources on microfilm, microfiche and in print.  By identifying key background and scholarly studies, the guide also invites you to situate these sources historically and socially. 

Lettres Pontificales = Papal Letters Online

Searchable registers of papal letters from the 13th- and 14th-century popes, based on Registres et lettres des Papes du XIIIe siècle (32 vols.; Rome, 1883- ) and Registres et lettres des Papes du XIVe siècle (48 vols.; Rome, 1899- ). These letters provide information on many aspects of medieval society, such as church institutions, politics, government and finance, and religious, intellectual, and artistic life. Includes citations and a brief description of the contents, but no full-text. Search (or Browse) by Pope, date, letter type, place of promulgation and many other criteria.
