As a member of the Boston Theological Institute, Andover-Harvard Theological Library extends borrowing privileges to the students and faculty of other BTI institutions. BTI students and faculty must present their home institution ID card and complete an application to activate their privileges at Andover-Harvard Theological Library. Applications for access and borrowing privileges should be made Monday-Friday, 9 am to 5 pm (except University holidays). It is best to call ahead to make sure a circulation supervisor will be available to issue new cards or update your current card.
BTI borrowers are provided with an AHTL Access card, with which they can enter the library during open hours. There is a $25 fee for replacing lost cards. The AHTL Access card must be presented to the circulation staff in order to borrow any materials.
Access and borrowing privileges are granted to a specific individual and may not be transferred or shared. When borrowing privileges expire, access privileges may be available on a renewable basis at no additional charge.
In order to register to borrow from a BTI library that is not their home library, students must first acquire a BTI card from their home institution verifying their enrollment and bring it, along with their valid student ID, to any other BTI library from which they want to borrow items. BTI cards include the student's name and home institution ID number. Student cards are valid for one term at a time: Fall (9/01/20XX - 12/31/20XX), Spring (1/01/20XX-5/31/20XX), Summer (6/01/20XX-8/31/20XX). The currently valid dates are printed on the card.
